Wyatt, who was originally “Pinapple”, is from the Sumner Neglect Case that happened in March. The owner, from Sumner, IA, released 22 horses into GSH’s care. Wyatt had a body score of 2 and needed a bath, deworming and lots of love to get better. Now Wyatt is a healthy, happy 2 year old who needs to find a loving permanent home. He was gelded on November 20, 2012, and aged as 2.5 by our vets at that point. He does have an “ugly” tooth (hard to describe) but our vets say it doesn’t affect his eating or future rideability, though may require more frequent floats in the future. It doesn’t affect his weight - he’s become quite the easy keeper! He’s a smart, sane boy. We’ve started age-appropriate training including ground work, lunging and verbal cues for walk/trot/canter, easy and whoa both directions on the lunge line, and he’s been introduced to a saddle pad and been saddled. He is halter broke and ties, good for the farrier, loads and trailers nicely, and really has a great personality and mind. He’s still young, so he may grow, and we suspect he’ll end up in the 14.1-14.3 hand range, though of course that’s just a guess.
